Facebook said on Monday that a global outage that took its services and internal communications tools offline for several hours was due to a "faulty configuration change" to its routers. Facebook and its other platforms, Whatsapp, Instagram and Oculus, are all back online. The company apologized for the outage in a blog post where Facebook's Vice President of infrastructure Santosh Janardhan said, “To all the people and businesses around the world who depend on us, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused by today’s outage across our platforms."
